NewsTeams Finalised for the 10th Anniversary Genesis Energy Hillary Challenge
Following on from the awesome qualification event at our Tongariro centre in mid-February, that saw 24 teams go head to head in a variety of tough team challenges held over two days, the12 teams that will advance through to the Grand Final event in May have now been finalised. Sponsored by Genesis Energy and generously supported by Bivouac Outdoor the 5-day event is widely considered to be the toughest sporting contest on the secondary school calendar. Certainly no other event places such demands on the participants nor requires such outstanding levels of teamwork and fitness.
The teams preparing for the big one to be held between 17-21 May at OPC Tongariro are -
New Plymouth Boys/Girls High (combined team) Auckland Grammar/St Cuthbert's (combined team) Middleton Grange - Christchurch Whangarei Boys/Girls High (combined team) Thames High School Raffles Boys/Girls - (winners of the 2009 Hillary Challenge Singapore) Opunake High School Cambridge High School Onslow College - Wellington Hamilton Boys/Girls High (combined team) Wentworth College - Whangaparaoa James Hargest High - Invercargill
Each team will be made up of 8 students from year 12/13 and will contain 4 female and 4 male members.
Over the coming weeks as we countdown to the big event in May we will profile the teams and let them tell us about what they think their chances are of taking the 10th Anniversary title. There will also be updates on what the teams are up to on our Twitter page, so be sure to start following us to ensure you are kept fully in the loop.
