Imagine hanging off sheer volcanic rock faces next to the dormant Mt Ngauruhoe in the dramatic Mangatepopo Valley, or watching the sunset over Mt Taranaki while packing up your gear from a fulfilling day climbing the crags up Mt Ruapehu. Further afield you could experience Whanganui Bay, a highly rated five star rock climbing crag on the edge of the majestic Lake Taupo, or the more easily accessible sport climbing areas of Wharepapa and Froggat Edge.
