Sir Edmund Hillary, founding patron of OPC showcased to New Zealand and the world what could be done if you put your mind to something and strive to achieve that goal. Climbing to the summit of Mt Everest was something that many considered impossible. Teamwork, perseverance and courage can combine to allow ordinary people to achieve “impossible” outcomes.

As New Zealand’s leading provider of outdoor education, The Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre of New Zealand (OPC) has encompassed Sir Edmund’s dedication, and strives to develop young people's potential through outdoor learning journeys.
